Under the CMU Triparty Repo arrangement, Northbound Bond Connect participants can use onshore bonds as collateral to conduct RMB repo business in Hong Kong.

To facilitate greater international participation in the Hong Kong bond market, eligible institutions such as financial institutions regulated or supervised by a recognised authority outside Hong Kong, sovereigns and supranational institutions, can now apply for CMU membership.

Bond Connect is a mutual bond market access scheme between Hong Kong and Mainland, built to promote the development of the bond markets in Hong Kong and Mainland.
