CMU OmniClear supports Ministry of Finance’s first-ever issuance of sovereign green bonds in Hong Kong
CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) congratulates the Ministry of Finance of the People’s Republic of China (CMOF) for its successful issuance of RMB6 billion sovereign green bonds in Hong Kong. The issuance comprised tranches of RMB3 billion 3-year and RMB3 billion 5-year bonds. The bonds will be cleared and settled through the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU).
The landmark issuance not only underscores Hong Kong’s pivotal role as a premier global offshore RMB business, but also indicates the strong investor appetite for green and sustainable bonds as the issuance is well-received by the market with the total subscriptions reaching RMB62.4 billion or 10.4 times the issuance amount. We also thanked CMOF for their continued confidence in CMU and choosing Hong Kong as their issuance location.
An issuance ceremony was held today (29 May), and was officiated by officials of CMOF, the Financial Secretary Mr Paul Chan and other honourable guests including Mr Stanley Chan, Group Chief Executive Officer of CMU OmniClear Holdings Limited (CMU OmniClear Holdings) and Chief Executive Officer of CMU OmniClear.
