CMU OmniClear supports debut wonton bond issued by Canadian sovereign agency
CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear) announces today (31 August) that it has successfully supported Export Development Canada (EDC) in issuing its debut HKD-denominated bond (wonton bond). This marks the first wonton bond issued by a North American sovereign agency through the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU).
The three year HK$3 billion bond, cleared and settled through the CMU, attracted strong demand from Asian and international institutional investors. It also further increased the geographic diversity of issuers in Hong Kong’s bond market. Through the CMU’s well-established platform, we bridge issuers with a wide global investor base.
We congratulate EDC on their landmark issuance. CMU OmniClear will continue to provide trusted issuance services to meet the growing interest from international issuers in wonton bond issuances, driving the development of Hong Kong’s bond market and further consolidating the city’s status as an international financial centre.
