CMU OmniClear officially launches asset servicing for equities under CMU-SIX linkage

12 Oct 2026
Following the activation of the direct linkage between the Central Moneymarkets Unit (CMU) operated by CMU OmniClear Limited (CMU OmniClear), and Switzerland’s national central securities depository (CSD), SIX, in July 2026, CMU OmniClear announced today (12 October) that Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited (BOCHK) became the first CMU Member successfully onboarded to the linkage service, marking the official launch of asset servicing for equities under the CMU-SIX linkage. Under this linkage, CMU Members can invest in, settle and hold Swiss and Spanish securities through CMU’s nominee account with SIX.

Mr Stanley Chan, Group Chief Executive Officer of CMU OmniClear Holdings Limited and Chief Executive Officer of CMU OmniClear, said, “As CMU evolves into a one-stop multi-asset class post-trade securities platform, we are pleased to have successfully rolled out equities custody and asset servicing for CMU Members to invest in and hold equities in European markets. This represents a significant step towards facilitating cross-border investments and strengthening financial cooperation between Hong Kong and European markets. It also demonstrates our capability to support Chinese investors’ outbound investment into markets beyond Hong Kong and Asia, meeting their growing demand for global asset allocation.”

Mr Wang Huabin, Deputy Chief Executive of BOCHK, said, “BOCHK is pleased to become the first bank in Hong Kong to participate in CMU’s direct linkage with SIX and its one-stop asset servicing platform. By connecting directly to the European market infrastructure through CMU, we are able to provide our global institutional clients with enhanced custody and multi-asset portfolio services defined by greater effectiveness and efficiency. As demand from Chinese Mainland investors for global asset allocation continues to grow, this initiative further reinforces Hong Kong’s strategic position as both a ‘super connector’ and ‘super value-adder’, serving as a gateway between the Chinese Mainland and international markets.”

Mr Francisco Bejar, Head of Custody at SIX, said, “Welcoming BOCHK as the first participant to onboard to the CMU-SIX linkage is an important step in turning our collaboration with CMU OmniClear into tangible market access for financial institutions. By connecting trusted infrastructures across Asia and Europe, we are making it simpler and more efficient for investors to access Swiss and Spanish securities. By combining CMU OmniClear’s gateway to international markets with SIX’s custody and asset servicing capabilities, we are enabling institutions to access European securities through an efficient and scalable post-trade framework. We look forward to building on this foundation together with CMU OmniClear as the service develops.”
